Consciousness as Fundamental: Mind Before Matter

Consciousness may be fundamental to reality rather than emergent from matter. The 'hard problem of consciousness' (David Chalmers) — why there is subjective experience at all — remains unsolved by materialist neuroscience.

Arguments for fundamental consciousness: the hard problem itself, quantum measurement problem (observer effect), growing philosophical traction for panpsychism and idealism, near-death experience research (Parnia AWARE study), and persistent psi research findings (controversial but not zero).
